Tinubu Buys N6.9 Billion Cars and N1.5 Billion for Wife, Sparks Outrage
President Bola Tinubu has sparked public outrage by proposing to spend over N6.9 billion on new vehicles for the State House, including N1.5 billion for the First Lady’s office.
The proposal is part of the Supplementary Budget that Tinubu sent to the National Assembly for approval, which amounts to N2.17 trillion.
The government plans to spend N2.9 billion on SUVs for the Presidential Villa and another N2.9 billion on replacing the existing cars in the pool.
The proposal comes at a time when Nigerians are protesting against the National Assembly’s decision to buy N75 billion worth of vehicles for the lawmakers, amid a tough economic situation in the country.
Some young Nigerians have staged protests in Lagos and Abuja, demanding that the government cut down on its wasteful spending and focus on the people’s needs.
The Supplementary Budget also includes N28 billion for the State House and N12.5 billion for the Presidential Air Fleet.
