Tinubu Abandons Osinbajo, Cabal Fighting VP Over Failed Plot To Remove Emefiele
The woes of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, took a turn for the worse as his political godfather and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has washed his hands off his political protege upon the revelations of the alleged corruption he is involved in.
According to the Pointblanknews gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari had presented the alleged corruption cases for which Osinbajo was being tackled as well as his political misteps to Tinubu and his ally, interim chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.
It was learnt that that while Akande demanded for time to study the issues raised against Osinbajo, Tinubu on the other hand allegedly noted that if the vice president has been found wanting he should be allowed to face the music.
However, it was learnt that besides his sacking of former Director General of Department of State Service, Lawal Daura, Buhari’s men are angry with Osinbajo over his alleged plot to remove the Central Bank Governor (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The VP was said to have settled for the Federal Inland Revenue Service boss, Babatunde Fowler for the position much to the chagrin of the Buhari’s allies in the presidency.
The VP had also considered a former Lagos state commissioner of Finance, Mr Olawale Edun for the CBN Governor position, a source told Pointblanknews.com.
Osinbajo has been battling a political storm in recent weeks following the resurgence of the corruption in the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Intervention fund (which is under his management) and the alleged sleaze in the Tradermoni scheme which he coordinates.
Osinbajo’s dramatic slip in the presidential pecking order was brought to the fore after Buhari shockingly mandated his hitherto trusted Vice President to take directives from him in his oversight of agencies and parastatals which constitutionally are under the purview of the VP’s office.
What’s worse, aides of the vice president were also asked to vacate the presidential villa.
However the Villa source who confided in Pointblanknews.com said, “Osinbajo has since day one wanted to remove the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. His hatred for Emefiele was unimaginable. He had two candidates in mind. Wale Edun and Babatunde Fowler. Before the elections, he was said to have settled for Fowler whose tenure at the FIRS was coming to an end.
And with the perceived performance of Fowler, he felt he would be much more acceptable to Buhari. Unknown to him, his schemes have gotten to the knowledge of the cabal.
“Isa Funtua was furious at Osinbajo for daring to remove Emefiele. He promptly swung into action. He told other cabal members and Buhari. As soon as the elections were over and Buhari declared winner by INEC, the cabal met and decided that the first appointment would be to renew the CBN Governor’s tenure.
“Buhari immediately made the announcement, renewing Emefiele’s tenure.
“As soon as that was done, the cabal went and sought all information regarding financial dealings the VP office had with the CBN, collated all and sent to Buhari. Buhari in turn invited Tinubu and Bisi Akande. Both were alarmed. While Akande requested for time to study the allegations and meet with the VP, Tinubu said that was not necessary and that if the VP is found to have committed those crime, he should be let go,” the source revealed.
