VIDEO: Tinubu stumbles at Arewa House lecture in Kaduna
The former Lagos State governor and the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, tripped over his foot and stumbled on Saturday in Kaduna State.
A video footage posted by @dailynigerian showed the former Lagos State governor crashing between two chairs on arrival at the 11th Arewa House Lecture in Kaduna.
Tinubu was quickly supported by his aides and nearby guests.
The 68-year-old politician was not the first politician to stumble in public. Just last week, 78-year-old US President, Joe Biden, lost his footing and tripped multiple times while walking up the steps to Air Force One.
However, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) had opposed Tinubu’s invitation, warning the event organisers not to extend an invitation to the former Lagos State Governor.
But the opposition had no impact on the event as organisers of the event shunned their warning as Tinubu made it a point to attend on Saturday.
Some Nigerians have raised concern about the health of the former Lagos state governor believed to be interested in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that Tinubu was the chairman of the lecture held in honour of one of Nigeria’s founding fathers, the late Sir Ahmadu Bello.
He spoke on the topic, ‘Reduction of the Cost of Governance for Inclusive Growth and Youth Development in Northern Nigeria in a Post-COVID-19 Era’.
The APC stalwart said though Nigeria has exited recession, the country’s economy remained weak.
He also warned against wasteful spending amongst government officials, saying government must spend money to yield economic returns for the benefit of the masses.
