Anxiety In Ekiti As Fayose, Olujimi Plan Showdown During Atiku’s Visit
There is palpable fear within ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State as the warring factions are laying claim to the leadership of the party in Ekiti and SouthWest.
They are also plotting showdown during the visit of the party’s Presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Peter Obi.
In what appeared to be a fight to finish, two PDP chieftains – Former Governor Ayo Fayose and the Senate Minority Leader, Abiodun Olujimi – have inaugurated two parallel Atiku\Obi Campaign Councils in Ekiti .
Fayose is enjoying the support of the party, both in the state and national level.
Olujimi, on the other hand, seems to be getting the backing of Atiku’s men in Abuja and many founding members of the PDP in Ekiti.
Also, majority of the PDP members in the State House of Assembly are with the Senator. While the Fayose’s faction of the council is being led by Professor Kolapo Olusola, the PDP Governorship candidate in the July 14, 2018 election , Olujimi’s faction is headed by a former governorship aspirant of the party, Otunba Yinka Akerele .
