Suspected sponsor of gunmen arrested in Imo
A suspect allegedly sponsoring the recent attacks in Imo state has been arrested by security operatives in Aboha-Ohi around lifeline Assembly Owerri/Orlu road.
An investigation carried out by Vanguard on Sunday, May 3, that the suspect has been identified as Nnamdi Okafor.
According to the newspaper, Okafor from Amanachi community in Orsu local government area of the state is one of the said sponsors of the hoodlums who operated under the name “unknown gunmen”
The 42-year-old has been linked to the killings, burning of police stations as well as the Owerri correctional centre.
In some of the attacks, policemen, police stations and other government facilities, including the Owerri Correctional Centre, have been targeted.

The country home of the state governor, Hope Uzodinma, was also recently attacked by gunmen who killed two security guards attached to the governor and burnt the building.
It was also gathered that the suspect, until his arrest was one director of Pecubel hotel in Imo.
According to the Vanguard reported that: “Nnamdi Okafor is from Amanachi community in Orsu local government area of Imo state, he was arrested in April, around lifeline Assembly in Aboha-Ohi along Owerri /Orlu road in Imo.
“Okafor ‘Male’ 42 years. He’s the director of one Pecubel Hotel and has a pharmaceutical outlet in Lagos.
He was arrested in connection with sponsoring /financing of the so-called unknown gunmen terrorising Imo state,” the source said.
