Student died after Ekiti Lecturer demanded Bribe
There was panic last week in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State, when one of the lecturers at the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti in the department of Geography demanded a bribe from a student whose name is Adebayo Adedayo.
Adebayo Adedayo died last week when a lecturer name withheld demanded N35,000 from him in order to submit his final year project.
Source learned that the deceased used N5,000 to buy about 35 liters of Petrol for the lecturer so as to pave his way from him but the lecturer still demanded that N35,000 ransom.
Adebayo Adedayo is an orphan and who struggles to eat on a daily basis.
It was last week Tuesday, 25 July, when the deceased was thinking how to get N35,000 before Friday, 28 July, the deadline given by the lecturer, he also received another call from his landlady called Mrs. Wumi which demanded for his house rent of N12,000 and gave him the deadline of Thursday 27, July to paid the rent .
Incidentally, after he received the call from the Landlady, the boy fell down and collapsed, by the time he was rushed to the specialist hospital, Ikere where he was confirmed dead and his body was laid to rest on Wednesday, 26 July.
Adedayo Adebayo should have been one of the shortlisted candidates for NYSC in November this year. He was hardworking and organist at one of The Redeemed Christain Church of God in Ikere Ekiti.
We hereby call the state government and the authority of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti to investigate the pathetic incident in order to bring that lecturer to justice and also to checkmake most lecturers that are usually involved in such action to prevent the future occurrence.
