Stop destructive politics in South West – Oyo PDP warns ex-zonal chairman, Ogundipe
Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised ex-South West zonal chairman of the party, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe to stop playing “destructive politics”.
The party in a statement made available to Newsflash247 on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji advised Chief Ogundipe and his “cohorts to stop their destructive politics as all hands are supposed to be on deck to support the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee which has done creditably well in repositioning the party even to the admiration of PDP’s ardent critics”.
Olatunji, while reacting to a statement credited to Mr. Ogundipe at a meeting with Chief Bode George in Lagos on Monday, noted that it was imperative to state that Dr. Eddy Olafeso led exco is the only recognised executive in the zone.
Olatunji said “The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oyo State has been drawn to a purported statement credited to the former Zonal Chairman of PDP in the Southwest, Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe, at a meeting with a PDP chairmanship aspirant, Chief Olabode George, in Lagos on Monday.
“In the said press release, it was alleged that their group could jeopardise the forthcoming National Convention of the party unless the defunct Zonal Executives are recognised.
“It is therefore imperative to alert the general public that the only recognised Zonal Executives of PDP in the Southwest is the one being led by Dr. Eddy Oyefeso as rightly endorsed by the highest organs of the party.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State as a major stakeholder in Southwest PDP would never support any attempt to rubbish the good name of the party for pecuniary gains knowing fully well that the chief promoter of this renegade group is a proxy of the ruling APC government.
“The events of the recent past are enough reasons to nip in the bud efforts to create confusion and stalemate where none exist.
“The party, operating in consonance with best modern political practices in developed countries, will henceforth apply sanctions on any erring members who flout the party’s constitution and directives.
“The Chairman of PDP in Oyo State, Alh. Kunmi Mustapha, wishes to enjoin members not to engage in anti-party activities as the party won’t mind to wield the big stick if the situation calls for it.”
