Ms Deborah Samuel, a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State has been burnt to death by her colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
NEWSFLASH NIGERIA learnt that the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased was accused of passing unflattering comments about Prophet Mohammed on campus.
Following immediate threats to her safety, she was immediately evacuated to the security post of the school, according to a student who witnessed the development.
But the mob pursued her to the security post and overpowered the personnel there.
A video of the incident circulated online showing how the student was set alight.
Meanwhile, the management of the institution has issued a statement announcing the immediate closure of the school over the fracas that broke out following Ms Deborah’s murder.

This was announced in a circular dated 12th May 2022, by the management of the school.
The statement reads: “Following today’s early morning Students rampage in the College, the College Management has resolved to close down the College indefinitely with immediate effect.
“Consequently, all students are hereby directed to vacate the College campus immediately (12th May 2022).”
Killing over blasphemy has been a recurring crisis across northern Nigeria for years, but authorities have not been able to address the situation. Culprits are usually not arrested, or released shortly after being taken into custody in the predominantly Muslim region.
This similarly happened in March 2021, some angry youths backed by leaders in the Sade community in the Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State burnt a man identified as Talle Mai Ruwa, to death for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.
Mai Ruwa was dragged away from his house on Tuesday in the presence of his mother and burnt to death in the middle of the community.
