Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, is currently leading in five of the six Local Government Areas (LGA) in the state.
Although he had emerged Governor in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for the presidential ticket, lost and settled for reelection as Governor on the PDP platform.
Tambuwal is currently leading Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress by a slim margin of 5,117 votes.
As announced at the Sokoto State collation centre in Sultan Maccido Institute, Sokoto, he has won Kware, Silame, Tureta, Bodinga and Binji LGA, respectively, while Ahmed has won only Rabba LGA so far.
According to the results, in six LGAs, PDP has secured 95,926 votes, while APC has 90,809 votes.
Sokoto State has 23 LGAs.
