Six-year-old girl kidnapped by mystery woman in Benue school
A six-year-old girl, Agatha Ngohide Apenanibo, has gone missing after she was allegedly abducted by an unidentified woman in RCM Primary School Tionsha in Makurdi, Benue State.
The incident happened on Thursday, November 2, 2023, when Agatha was playing with her friends during the break period. According to her classmates, who witnessed the abduction, a strange woman approached Agatha and gave her some money to buy biscuit. Agatha then followed the woman and never came back.
The headmistress of the school, Mrs. Grace Torkuma, confirmed the incident to journalists on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She said that Agatha was present in the class until the break time, but nobody noticed her absence afterwards.
Mrs. Torkuma explained that it was common for some pupils in the school to leave for home during the break, as they were instructed by their parents or guardians to help with domestic chores, or to sell or hawk their foodstuffs in the market or within the community.
She said that the school authorities were not aware of the abduction until Agatha’s parents came to the school on Friday, November 3, 2023, to report that their daughter did not return home the previous day.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, said that the police had launched an investigation into the matter and were working hard to rescue the missing girl and apprehend the kidnapper. She appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could assist the police in their investigation.
