Following the directives given to all network operators in the country by the Federal government to disconnect every SIM card not synchronized with valid National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th, the MTN communication has revealed how to connect the Identity card number online without visiting their office.
It provides a link for people to connect to their National ID card, so that they do not have to go to their office.
The directive to disconnect SIM cards without valid NIN came after an urgent meeting of key stakeholders in the Communications industry convened by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) on Monday, December 14, 2020.
The meeting in its resolution insisted that all telecom operators must from Thursday, December 16, 2020 require all their subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) to update SIM registration records.
The Minister explained that the order was in line with Federal government’s desire to consolidate the achievement of September 2019 SIM card registration.
Below is the procedure on how MTN users can connect NIN stutus online:
MTN provides a link for people to connect to their National ID card, so that they do not have to go to their office.
Step1: Go to https://mtnonline.com/nin/
Step 2: Submit NIN details
“Y’ello, to link your National Identification Number (NIN) with your SIM registration data, please submit your NIN and phone number below.
Note that NINs submitted here will be received as unverified, pending validation against the NIMC database. This means you may be required to re-validate this information in person, in the future. Thank you!
Step 3: Fill the form
- First name
- Last name (surname)
- Middle name
(b) Phone number
(c) NIN (National Identification Number)
(d) Email
If you log in they will send you an OTP to the phone number; a number you will enter to continue the process.
Please note that the code they will send you will expire after five minutes, so use it immediately they send it.
