Server Crisis: INEC in Osun denies transmitting results
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says the Commission did not transfer 2019 election results through server due to circumstances beyond their control.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Southwest, Solomon Soyebi stated this at the post Election review activities held at the INEC office in Osogbo.
Post Election Review activities holds in all the state of the federation including the federal capital territory, Abuja.
Gathered here are INEC officials, Returning officers, collation officers and other ad-hoc staff used for the General Elections in Osun State.
The Programme is in line with the Commission’s notable intention of critical examination and post mortem of the 2019 Elections.
Issues discussed include voter registration process, movement of electoral materials, publicity and enlightenment, election Security, collaboration with other agencies, recruitment, Training, deployment of personnel among others.
The INEC National Commissioner used the opportunity to confirm that transmission of Election result through server was indeed piloted in Sokoto and tested in Osun Governorship election but was not used for the General Elections due to some obvious reasons.
He explains that violence was largely responsible for most of the rerun Elections held in the country urging politicians to always play by the rules
INEC is optimistic that the lessons learnt in the last general elections would form a basis for improvement in the subsequent elections.
