Seplat Energy CEO Back in Business as Immigration Hurdle Cleared
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seplat Energy, Mr Roger Brown, has resumed his position after the Ministry of Interior and the Nigeria Immigration Service restored his work permit and other visas for his entry or stay in Nigeria.
Seplat Energy, a leading Nigerian energy supplier, made this announcement in a filing to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) yesterday. The company said Brown’s immigration documents were restored after verification checks conducted by the immigration authorities.
The company had earlier announced that the immigration documents were withdrawn by the ministry following false allegations of racism, unfair prejudice, discrimination and improper immigration status made by some individuals claiming to be “concerned workers and stakeholders of Seplat Energy Plc.”
The company cooperated fully with the verification checks and expressed its appreciation to the ministry and the immigration service for their professionalism and prompt resolution of the matter.
Brown was appointed as the CEO of Seplat Energy in March 2020, succeeding Mr Austin Avuru who retired after 10 years of leading the company.
Brown has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and joined Seplat Energy in 2013 as the Chief Financial Officer. He played a key role in the successful dual listing of the company on both the London and Nigerian stock exchanges in 2014.
He also led the finance team in raising over $1.8 billion of capital for acquisitions and corporate purposes. He has been instrumental in driving Seplat Energy’s growth strategy and overseeing its operations.
Seplat Energy is a leading independent energy company listed on both the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX). The company operates a portfolio of assets in the Niger Delta region and has a leading position in gas production and supply to Nigeria’s power sector.
Seplat Energy is committed to creating shared value for its stakeholders through its business activities, social investments and environmental stewardship.
