Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has mourned the passing of former Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.
Fayose whose tribute to late statesman, said “Jakande should remember to tell God to look down from heaven and save Nigerians from these current tax-masters”.
Jakande died on Thursday morning in Lagos State and was never ill.
His death was disclosed by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide-Sanwo-Olu.
The former first civilian governor of Lagos, Alhaji Lateef Jakande died aged 91.
Jakande, first civilian governor of Lagos State between October 1, 1979 and December 31, 1983, would have been 92 in April.
Reacting, Fayose said Jakande was the last of the greatest true ‘Awoists’.
“Jakande, last of the greatest TRUE Awoists is gone & irreplaceable. We are now orphans left at the mercy of God & the so-called ‘Progressives’.
“LKJ should remember to tell God to look down from heaven & save Nigerians from these current tax-masters.
“May, the soul of Bàbá Kékeré RIP,” Fayose wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
