Real Madrid qualify for Champions League final
Real Madrid has qualified for this year’s Champions League final after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The current holders had won 2-1 last week in Germany and were favourites going into the leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
But it was Bayern who took an early lead through Joshua Kimmich, just like they did at the Allianz Arena.
Karim Benzema scored twice either side of the break, to put the hosts firmly in control of the tie.
The Bundesliga champions equalized by James Rodriguez, who is on loan from Real, but could not find one more goal to take them through.
Zinedine Zidane’s men now stand on the verge of history, as they will become the first club in the modern era to win it for the third consecutive time, if they beat Roma or Liverpool on May 26.
