Reactions as Nigerians dominate UK varsity’s graduation list
The University of Hertfordshire (UH) in the United Kingdom has sparked a wave of reactions on social media following its recently-held graduation ceremony.
The graduation ceremony of the Hertfordshire-based institution took place on Wednesday.
However, the graduands from the Department of Nursing, Health and well-being are predominantly Nigerians.
Congratulations to all the graduates receiving their awards today 🎓

The department is under the school of health and social work at the institution.
It is understood that the varsity is one of the cheapest in the UK with its tuition said to be less than £10,000 per year for home students and about £14,000 for international students.
Its perceived affordability makes it a coveted institution for many Nigerians seeking to study abroad.
According to the 2022 Guardian University Guide, the institution is ranked 90 among universities in the UK — with Oxford University taking the first spot.
The institution was formerly known as Hatfield Polytechnic. In 1992, it was granted university status by the British government and subsequently renamed the University of Hertfordshire.
The graduation list has further raised concerns about the exodus of Nigerians abroad for study and other career pursuits.
Here are what some Nigerians had to say about the UK varsity’s graduation list:
“List of Department of Nursing, Health and Wellbeing are all Nigerian E be like Unilag graduation list.. it shows the massive exodus of students who abandon the Nigerian Educational system and travel abroad to study. Congrats to the graduates,” a Twitter user wrote.
