The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has reacted to the report that General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye accepted a Muslim-Muslim ticket after meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
The RCCG said that the General overseer, Pastor Adeboye, will not be endorsing any candidate for the 2023 elections.
The Church said contrary to reports, Pastor Adeboye never met with Tinubu over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
Newsflash Nigeria had quoted a ThisDay newspaper report which claimed Tinubu met with Adeboye over the weekend.
The newspaper said Tinubu’s meeting with Adeboye was said to have been centred around his decision to settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
ThisDay reports that Tinubu’s meeting with Adeboye was held on Sunday at the Redemption Camp.
In the meeting was Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi, who is a deputy pastor with RCCG, alongside others.
“He met Adeboye on Sunday. The meeting was very fruitful. Adeboye is not against Muslim-Muslim ticket,” a source told ThisDay.
However, a statement from the church dismissed the claims.
The church made this known in a statement on its official Twitter page.
RCCG also refuted claims that Adeboye met with the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The statement reads partly: “It has come to our notice that some new outlets are reporting that a meeting between Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, was held a few days back at the Redemption Camp where our esteemed father in the Lord was said to have supported the preferred candidature of the party the former gover
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye and RCCG have not and will not endorse any candidate for the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.”
