Presidency reveals those helping bandits in Buhari’s home state
Garba Shehu said that some traditional rulers in the Nigerian leader's state of origin are actually aiding the bandits in their evil activities.
The presidency, on Monday, June 15, has revealed those helping the bandits in Kastina State, the home state of the President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, has said that some traditional rulers in the Nigerian leader’s state of origin are actually aiding the bandits in their evil activities.
Shehu made this claim while speaking with journalists on Monday, June 15, Channels TV reports.
The presidential spokesman revealed that most of these traditional rulers do this because they are benefiting from it.
He said: “It is not that we are making direct accusations on anyone but it is also true that even in the president’s native state of Katsina, some traditional rulers have been found complicit in collaboration with the bandits to harm their own people.”
Newsflash247 had reported last week that at least 40 people have been killed in a fresh attack launched by suspected armed bandits in Kadisau village, in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, the home state of the President Muhammadu Buhari.

Newsflash247 reported that the bandits numbering about 200 on motorcycles stormed the community about midnight on last week Tuesday, June 9 and carried out the attack till early Wednesday morning without security agencies resisting them.
The source said they sacked the entire village, destroyed and looted shops and rustled an unspecified number of cattle.
He added that hospitals in the area had received bodies of those killed and were attending to the injured as some residents fled their homes in fear.
“They stormed here riding on motorcycles, some brandishing assault rifles. At least 40 bodies have been recovered while those injured are presently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Funtua, and some private hospitals within Faskari,” he said.
Katsina has experienced series of attacks in recent times with bandits killing over 300 persons this year.
Also, on Saturday, June 13, at least 50 bandits have reportedly attacked Mazoji Village under Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing the traditional ruler of the community.
This comes barely three weeks after the murder of the district head of Yantumaki in Danmusa Local Government, Alhaji Maidabino, by bandits.
Newsflash247 who gathered the report said that the bandits carried out the attack on Mazoji Village around 2am and operated for several hours before killing the traditional leader.
The bandits also reportedly set ablaze five motorcycles during the attack, while they rustled unspecified number of cows.
The source lamented that security operatives were yet to arrive the village even as at 7:30am.
Bandits attacks and kidnappings have been on the rise in Katsina State in recent times, leaving many deaths and displacement behind.
