Police Shots NYSC Member Dead, A Day To Pass Out Parade
A policeman has allegedly shot dead a Corp member serving in Abuja.
The deceased, Linda Angela Igwetu was billed to pass out of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme today after a compulsory one year service in Abuja.
She served at Outsource Global Company in Mabushi.
She was said to have gone out with her friends as part of the celebration for the completion of her one year of service.
Narrating what happened, the Convener of #EndSARS #ReformPoliceNG Mr. Segun Awosanya said: “She finished at work late at about 11 pm and joined a few friends to a hang out before their Passing Out Parade scheduled for Thursday (today).
“They left for home at about 3 am and was shot at shortly after the check point immediately after Ceddi Plaza by a Police Officer identified as Benjamin Peters.
“The bullet hit Angela on her side, by the midriff and she began loosing blood in the open roof vehicle.
“She was rushed to the Garki hospital but they wouldn’t treat her until they see a police report despite the fact that the police officers were present. While the deliberation was ongoing, Angela bled to death.”

Awosanya said the case was later taken to Federal Secretariat Police Station.
He also said his group was awaiting the police report on the incident adding that they have initiated a petition to the commissioner of police & the Force Headquarters.
Awosanya also said the case would go to court.
On what the police told the sister of the deceased, Awosanya said: “The police said they saw a convertible car and they didn’t know those inside and then the policeman who shot at them said that he heard help in his subconscious.
“My question is, even if you hear help in your subconscious, is the solution to fire at the person who is shouting for help? You could not stop them, double cross them or find a way to stop the vehicle to be sure everyone was okay but you instead opened fire at them?
“I think this is a lie and they are trying to cover up their evil acts.”
When The Nation contacted the Police, a source in the Force who pleaded anonymity said: “We don’t know what actually happened but the investigation is ongoing.
