A Nigerian man identified as Timilehin Abayomi who had withdrawn in his final year at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has emerged with a first-class degree from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA).

Abayomi revealed the rough road he went through to finally emerge as one of the best graduating students.

Abayomi disclosed that he emerged with a first-class degree from the FUTA and was one of the best students in the Department of Quantity Surveying.

The graduate in a post on his LinkedIn narrated how he was advised to withdraw in his final year at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2008.

Timilehin said he insisted on going back to university and got admitted into the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2015 and now he has a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying with First Class Honours.

He shared photos from his graduation with the caption, “My mother and I held ourselves in late 2014, weeping uncontrollably after learning that I had failed in OAU after being accepted to the citadel in 2008.

“My studentship was withdrawn in my final semester, 5 years later, for reasons I completely accept responsibility for.

“Fast forward to yesterday, I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying with First Class Honours from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and placed in the top 5% of the university’s graduating class.”

Meanwhile, twin girls identified as Taiwo Oluyale and Kehinde Olulaye, graduated with First Class at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) on the same course.

Taiwo emerged as the best graduating student for the year 2021 in the institution.

Both Taiwo and her twin sister, Kehinde bagged First Class in Building Technology.

Taiwo emerged as the best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.89 while Kehinde made a 4.82 CGPA.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, who heaped praise on the sisters, said the institution stood tall among others.

He said all stakeholders must steer the ship of the university to a greater problem-solving mode so for the institution to remain relevant at the top.

Emir of Katagum and Chancellor of FUTA, Alhaji Umar Farouk, tasked FUTA alumni to give back to their Alma mater.
