PHOTOS: Six injured as Ganduje, Kwankwaso supporters clash in Kano

No fewer than six members of the Kwankwasiyya and Gandujiyya groups of the All Progressives Congress were on Sunday injured in Kano following a clash between the two groups.

Kwankwasiyya are supporters of the former governor, Musa Kwankwaso, while Gandujiyya are supporters of the incumbent governor, Umar Ganduje

The incident occurred around 11 am at Chiranchi quarters in the Gwale Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the fight ensued when one of the groups allegedly attacked the other.

This led to the injuring of a junior brother of the Commissioner of Special Duties, Abdullahi Abbas, and many others.

An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Sunday that the incident happened after some members of the group arrived at the area to attend two separate weddings.

“The Kwankwasiyya followers attended one and the Gandujiyya group attended another wedding ceremony.

“The one attended by Kwankwasiyya members was contracted first. So, while they were leaving the area, they ran into the Gandujiyya group who were in another marriage.

“They exchanged few words and fight ensued leading to six persons being injured”, the source said.

Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the incident.

He, however, declined further comments as investigations were still ongoing.

“I don’t have details of the clash. I will communicate to you as soon as I get details of the unfortunate incident.

“The injured persons were earlier treated at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital,” Majiya said.
