PHOTOS: Nigerian Lawmakers Protest Over Collapsing Bridge
Angry lawmakers carried placards with various inscriptions from Rivers State on Monday took to the street to protest against the collapsing state of the Akpajo Bridge in the Eleme axis of the state.
The lawmakers comprised of those at the state and national levels from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
Leader of the protesting lawmakers, Senator Barry Mpigi while addressing newsmen called on the federal government to urgently fix entire road and repair the bridge.
“The lives of our people and other Nigerians are at risk here.
We’ve written to the authorities and also raised motions on the floor of NASS concerning this.
We decided to show Nigerians what our people faces everyday and demand that the federal government listens to us and avert unforeseen tragedy that might occur here”, Mpigi lamented.
