PHOTOS: Four Governors meet Mimiko in Ondo, set to return to PDP
Following the planned move of former Ondo State Governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), four governors of the party visited Ondo Township, the country home of the former governor.
The four governors who arrived at the residence of Mimiko on Thursday were Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) and Okezie Ikpeazu, (Abia).
Reports indicate that the arrival of the PDP governors is connected to plans by Mimiko to return to the PDP from his Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.
At the residence of Mimiko during the arrival of the governors was the former Deputy Governor of the state and governorship candidate of ZLP during the 2020 election, Agboola Ajayi who is expected to join Mimiko on his journey back to PDP.
Also three current members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rasheed Elegbeleye (PDP), Tomide Akinribido (ZLP) and Festus Akingbaso (PDP), as well as the former Speaker of the Assembly, Jumoke Akindele were at the residence of the former governor.

The former Chief Judge of the state Olaseinde Kumuyi who is a chieftain of ZLP and Deputy governorship candidate of ZLP in the 2020 election, Gboye Adegbenro were also at the meeting.
Others include former House of Reps member, Joseph Akinlaja, ex-governorship aspirant, Banji Okunomo, as well as Dr Kola Ademujimi, Eni Akinsola, John-Paul Akinduro, Andrew Ogunsakin, Ayo Fadoju, Afolabi Akinsiku, Bolanle Olafunmiloye, Funmilola Oluwadare, Taye Afilaka among other top former senior aides to Mimiko.
The meeting is being held behind closed doors.
Mimiko defected to the Zenith Labour party, ZLP, in the build-up to the 2019 General election and contested for the Ondo Central Senatorial seat but lost to PDP’s Ayo Akinyelure.
He had won the governorship on the platform of the Labour Party in 2007 but had to get an Appeal Court verdict in his favour to dislodge Olusegun Agagu, and became the lawful occupant of the Alagbaka Government House, a year later.
