The remains of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has been laid to rest in Ibadan on Sunday.
Ajimobi died, on Thursday, at a Lagos hospital from Coronavirus complications.
Ajimobi was buried according to Islamic rites at his 6th Avenue, Yemoja Street, Oluyole Estate residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, amid tight security.
Ajimobi was buried at about 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Ajimobi, aged 70, was confirmed dead at a Lagos-based hospital.
The late politician was reportedly buried in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
Less than 20 people, including wife of the former governor, Chief Florence Ajimobi, and other members of his immediate family, were in attendance.
Aso, prominent Islamic clerics including Kunle Saani, Muideen Bello, and the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Abubakri Abdulganiyu were attendance.
A special prayer is to be offered for the deceased at his Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
Fierce looking armed policemen were strategically positioned at the residence of the deceased.
Movements in and out of the neighbourhood were controlled as the burial ceremony held.
Party faithful and other loyalists of the late politician were barred from the burial.
Two police vehicles, a Hilux patrol van of the State Anticrime outfit, Operation Burst and a white Kia Rio used for State Security patrol were parked beside the building with stern- looking security operatives.
