A fuel tanker has crushed a middle-aged commercial motorcyclist to death in Ondo State.
The incident occurred on Friday in Akure, the state capital.
Channels Television gathered that the tanker driver was stopped by policemen at Iyeoma junction while coming from Oba-Adesida Road, but he refused to stop.
He, however, ran over the motorcyclist simply identified as Kayode who was coming from another route, blaming the incident on brake failure.
The tanker driver was said to have dragged Kayode with his motorcycle for some minutes before he eventually stopped the truck.
Some eyewitnesses said late Kayode’s brother was also riding with him but was lucky to have quickly jumped off the bike.
On the other hand, the motorcyclist got trapped in-between the two front tires of the tanker.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) rushed to the scene with an ambulance trying to retrieve his remains.
Angered by the death of their colleague, some motorcyclists at the scene descended on the tanker driver and his partner.
However, policemen drafted to the scene were able to rescue duo before they were lynched and restore normalcy in the area.
