Pastor Adeboye Urges Nigerians to Pray for Peace Amidst Rising Tensions

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) held its 2023 convention at the Redemption City of God in Mowe, Ogun State, from August 7 to August 13. The theme of the convention was “The Great Shepherd” and it featured various programmes and activities for the spiritual edification of the participants.

On Friday night, the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, delivered a powerful message on the need for peace in Nigeria.

He shared his personal experience of witnessing war and its devastating effects. He said he was not a soldier, but he had been to the battlefield and he knew how terrible war was.

He said Nigeria was facing many challenges, such as the herders’ crisis, banditry, kidnapping and hunger. He said these challenges could escalate into more wars if not properly addressed.

Pastor Adeboye said Nigerians should pray fervently for peace and avoid anything that could trigger violence.

He said: “Nigeria still needs a lot of prayers… If anybody asks me to choose between war and peace, I will choose peace.”

He added: “Surely we do not want more wars, we want to win the ones we are fighting, and we do not want fresh ones. So those of you who believe in peace in every section… Stand and cry to God.”

Pastor Adeboye also prayed for the nation and its leaders. He asked God to grant them wisdom, courage and grace to lead Nigeria to prosperity and stability. He also prayed for the protection and provision of God for all Nigerians.

The convention ended on Saturday with a thanksgiving service and a special anointing service. Pastor Adeboye blessed the congregation and declared that they would experience the goodness of God as they go back to their various destinations. He also announced that the next convention would hold in August 2024 with the theme “The Great Provider”.
