Party Primaries: Crisis Hits Ekiti PDP Over Primary, Aspirant Sue Party

Crisis hits the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after the party lost the July 14 governorship election to the All Progressive Congress, APC over the state House of Assembly primaries.

The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose was announced at a stakeholders meeting at the state government House in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, August 22, that the state would conduct the primary election of the PDP into the State House of Assembly across the local government where the most of the aspirants are against the decision.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP screening of the aspirants of the House Assembly, across the nation scheduled to hold on the August 27, 2018.

The pre-primary election into the House of assembly was held on Thursday, August 23 across the 16 local government areas on which most of the aspirants were not aware of the primary.

Though, the pre-primary was successful in some local government areas across the state, the Ado Local government aspirants were not agreed to conduct the pre-primary election.

One of the House of Assembly aspirants in Ikere Local government Area, Hon Smart Owoyemi has sued the party for disorderliness and impunity and accused the state governor of not allowing the party primary election to hold as scheduled.

Smart Owoyemi, hails from Ikere, Atiba/Aafin ward obtained the nomination form of state House of the assembly of Six Hundred Thousand Naira, N600,000 on August 14, 2018, according to the letter sent to Dammylink which was stated that the state primary election to be held on September 15.

Owoyemi said, the election of the delegates who are to elect the state House of Assembly candidates is yet to be conducted and the delegate election scheduled for September 5.
