Asari Dokubo Warns Tinubu Against Unfair Appointments, Says He Is Not Like Buhari

Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant leader, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu to avoid making unfair appointments that favour only his loyalists. He said that such a move could jeopardize his presidency and alienate his supporters.

Dokubo, who had previously criticized Tinubu for appointing people as if he was still the governor of Lagos State, urged him to review his appointments and ensure that they reflect the diversity of the country.

He said that Tinubu should not take for granted the votes he received in the 2023 elections, despite running with another Muslim as his running mate.

In a new video that has gone viral on social media, Dokubo stated that if Tinubu does not change his appointments, he and others like him, who are his staunch supporters, would find it difficult to defend him.

He warned the president not to assume that he is like former President Muhammadu Buhari, who also made biased appointments and faced no consequences.

Dokubo argued that unlike Tinubu, Buhari had a solid base of supporters, who enabled him to do whatever he wanted. The former militant claimed that those who are benefitting from Tinubu’s appointments were the ones who were afraid to campaign for him during the election. He accused the president of neglecting people like him, who risked everything to help him achieve his presidential ambition.
