The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has finally spoken after losing the governorship election to secure a second term in office.
Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, had been declared the winner of the Osun State governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
But less than 24 hours after the declaration of PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the 2022 Osun gubernatorial poll, the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola had called on his supporters to remain calm.
This is as the state governor also said he has taken cognisance of the result of Saturday’s guber poll as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement by Ismail Omipidan, his Chief Press Secretary, the governor who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, noted that the party would respond appropriately to the guber result.
He also admitted that he would need to consult widely with critical stakeholders in the APC.
“We have taken cognisance of the results of the governorship election in the State as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday.
“The party would be responding appropriately after studying the results and consulting with critical stakeholders of the party,” he said.
While calling on the party members and supporters to remain calm, Governor Oyetola urged the residents to go about their businesses without hindrance.
“We cease this opportunity to call on security operatives to ensure maintenance of law and order,” he added.
The statement also disclosed that the state governor has directed security operatives to take adequate charge so as to prevent the breakdown of law and order in any part of the state.
