Osinbajo group Reports Fayemi To Buhari Over Segun Oni’s Suspension

Trouble is looming in the Ekiti State chapter of the rulling party,The All Progressives Congress, APC, If not contained, it is threatening to consume the party.

Stakeholders of the party have called on the national leadership of the party to urgently save the party from extinction.

The Special Assistant to the President on Politics assigned to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Babafemi Ojodu has joined others in accusing Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi of being monopolistic.

They also accused the former Minister of Solid Minerals of being behind the suspension of Segun Oni by the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.

The APC in a letter dated May 1 by party’s executives in Oni’s Ifaki Ward II, suspended the former governor of the state indefinitely. They accused him of anti-party activities, and his refusal to appear before them to clear his name.

“Subject to Article 21 Subsections I, II and X of the APC constitution 2014 as amended, we the undersigned executive members of the APC hereby suspend you indefinitely from our great party, based on your refusal to honour our invitation for investigation and fact finding into the allegation of anti-party activities levelled against your person by the members of our party,” read the lettter, signed by Chairman and Secretary of Ifaki Ward II, Shina Akinloye and Ogunyemi Taiwo, respectively, as well as 24 other executive members in the ward.

“We are by the copy of this letter informing both the local government and state working committee of the party for necessary information and action,” the letter read in part.

But Ojudu in a letter he jointly signed with Senator Anthony Adeniyi; three former members of the House of Representatives – John Akintoye, Dr Ife Arowosoge, Oyetunde Ojo and Otunba Ben Oguntuase to the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, condemned Oni’s suspension by the ruling party for anti-party activities.

According to them, Oni was being humiliated because he challenged Fayemi’s eligibility to contest the governorship election all the way to the Supreme Court.

The letter dated May 3, 2019 was titled, “A call to save the APC in Ekiti State”.

They copied President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

They also accused Fayemi of sidelining them in his appointment and discountenancing their contributions towards his electoral victory.

“Governor Fayemi whose hands can clearly be seen here (in Oni’s suspension), should realise that he needs to tread softly.

“Members of the party are fully aware of the shenanigan going on within the party and his government in Ekiti State. We are aware of the brazen monopolistic tendencies going on. Dr Fayemi used his influence as Minister of the Federal Government to place his cronies and lackeys in federal positions and when he became governor, he recycled the same set of people into state positions to the exclusion of other tendencies within the party in the state.”
