Osinbajo, Amosun, Bakare, secure 370 APC statutory delegates, Submit Nomination Forms

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, have submitted their presidential nomination and expression of interest forms.

The Vice President and Amosun submitted their Nomination and Expression of Interest forms on Wednesday at the APC Secretariat in Abuja ahead of the party’s primaries.

The Vice President was represented by the Senate Committee Chairman on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Senator Kabiru Gaya, who also led the team that picked his forms.

Others submitted were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; and former vice-presidential candidate and popular pastor, Tunde Bakare.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA had earlier reported that the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had submitted his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms on Wednesday.

Tinubu was represented by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, amongst others.

This comes as the ruling party extends the deadline for the submission of nomination and expression of interest forms by aspirants seeking various elective offices till Friday.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA gathered that 10 statutory delegates from each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have signed for Tinubu, Osinbajo and three other aspirants to complete the submission of his presidential forms.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA had earlier reported that ten signatures of statutory delegates from each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are to be signed on the presidential forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before aspirants submit their forms.

It was learnt that each APC aspirant was required to get the signatures of 370 statutory delegates, covering the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

The statutory delegates comprise the President and his deputy, serving governors and ex-governors, State Executive Council members (SEC), National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee members (NWC), as well as all former national officers of the party, among others.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA has not confirmed maybe their aspirants had signed the Form 18 ‘Letter of Withdrawal’ attached to the Presidential forms before he submitted the form.

The letter, which must be signed before a commissioner for oaths/ notary public before submission, read in part, “I hereby voluntarily withdraw my candidacy from the contest. My withdrawal is in the best interest of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.”

Meanwhile, three governorship aspirants have also submitted their forms at the party’s national office in the nation’s capital.

They are Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State is seeking re-election for a second term in office, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Uche Ogar, are joining the race to be governors of Kebbi and Abia States respectively.
