Ondo Government Speaks On Governor Akeredolu’s Health Status
The Ondo State Government has urged the public to disregard the rumours circulating on social media about the alleged death of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, issued a statement on Friday to clarify that the governor is alive and well, and has been attending to state matters while also delegating state functions.
The statement was issued in response to the widespread anxiety and panic caused by the false information in the state and across the country.
The commissioner also noted that the government had been receiving numerous calls and messages regarding the governor’s health, and had initially chosen to ignore the wicked fabrication until it became apparent that certain individuals were attempting to use it for political gain.
“We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumour. Aketi is very much alive,” the statement read.
Governor Akeredolu, who is also the chairman of Southwest Governors Forum, was sworn in for a second term of four years on February 24, 20214.
He is the 18th person to lead Ondo State since its creation in 1976 and the sixth elected governor of the state.
