Ondo Crisis Resolved as Tinubu Intervenes, Deputy Governor and Speaker Embrace Peace

The political crisis in Ondo State has been resolved after President Bola Tinubu intervened and called for peace among the state officials.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who had faced impeachment threats from the state House of Assembly, pledged to work with the Governor and the legislators to ensure good governance in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Oladiji Olamide, also agreed to halt all impeachment moves against Aiyedatiwa and maintain the status quo in the House leadership.

The peace deal was reached after a six-hour meeting between the President and the state officials, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday night. The meeting was aimed at resolving the differences and conflicts that had rocked the state in recent weeks.

The Deputy Governor, who expressed his gratitude to the President for his intervention, said that he had forgiven and forgotten all that had happened before. He said that he would carry all the commissioners and officials along in handling the state’s affairs and respect their offices and age differences. He also assured the party structure that he would work with them and uphold the party’s supremacy.

The Speaker, who read the details of the resolution, said that they had agreed to embrace peace and avoid any dissolution of the cabinet or the House leadership.

He said that they would also cooperate with the party leadership in the state and support the Governor and the Deputy Governor in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo State.

The President, who commended the state officials for their maturity and patriotism, urged them to remain united and focused on the development of the state. He said that he was confident that the state would overcome its challenges and achieve its potentials under the APC-led administration.
