Three robbers have been shot dead by police in Ogun State. They were shot dead on September 22, 2018 at Fidiwo along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway after being caught in the act by the police, resorting to test of mights and the resultant bowing to the detectives’ superior fire power.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated in a press release that a gang of robbery syndicate, among whom were the felled three, had attacked one Jumoke Ogunbade, a popular female bush meat seller.According to him, the victim was at the point of attack to keep appointment with her bush meat supplier, only to be ambushed by the robbers, a scenario that caught the attention of the police through a distress call.
“On receiving the information, the DPO, Owode Egba Division, CSP sheu Alao, quickly led his Anti robbery team to the scene where they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel which lasted for about 30 minutes”.Others escaped with wounds.
Oyeyemi stated that one locally made single barrel gun, one shot double barrel gun, one single barrel muzzle loading gun, one live cartridge, a wrist watch belonging to the victim of the attack and a cash sum of N10,220 were recovered at the scene.
The police image maker further hinted that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, commended his men for their gallantry display and quick response to the distress call, as well as ordering a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
