Some people suspected to be political thugs on Wednesday reportedly attacked the convoy of the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka.
Newsflash247 gathered that Isiaka, popularly called GNI, and his campaign train were going to Ibese in the Yewa North Local Government Area of the state when the thugs reportedly opened fire on them, injuring two of his supporters.
The Ogun State Police Command said the attack had yet to be reported to it.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the Area Commander, Ilaro, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro and the station in Ibese said they were not aware of the incident.
He said, “Nobody has reported the matter to us. I have been trying GNI’s number, but I could not get through. I want to tell him to ensure he inform the police before he embarks on campaign,” Oyeyemi said.
The Gboyega Isiaka Campaign Organisation described the attack as a “sad commentary on the worsening security and state of politics in Ogun State.”
