Oduduwa University Founder Sentenced to Death for Murdering OAU Student

Ramon Adedoyin, the founder of Oduduwa University and the owner of Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, has been convicted of murdering Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

On Tuesday, Judge Adepele Ojo of the Osun State High Court sentenced Adedoyin to death by hanging, after finding him guilty of killing Adegoke at his hotel between November 5 and 7, 2021.

The judge said that the prosecution had presented enough circumstantial evidence to prove that Adedoyin was responsible for the death of Adegoke, who was a guest at his hotel.

She also said that Adedoyin did not help his case by refusing to testify in his own defense, which implied that he had accepted the murder charge against him.

Adedoyin’s lawyer had argued that his client was in Abuja for several days around the time of the incident and could not have committed the crime.

However, the judge dismissed this alibi as insufficient and unconvincing.
