Obasanjo Absent, IBB, Abdulsalami, Jonathan, Gowon Present As Council of State Meets

The National Council of States meeting, chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, met on Thursday, August 27, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is being attended by all former Nigerian leaders except a former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Past president at the ongoing meeting include, ex-Presidents Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan.

Also present is former Chief Justice of the Federation, CJN, Walter Onnoghen and the current CJN, Mahmood Mohammed.

The Council of State, which is the highest advisory body to the serving president, consists of the Vice President, former heads of states, governors of the 36 states including the Abuja minister, former and presents the Chief Justices of the Federation, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Inspector General of Police.
