NYSC Speaks on Advert Asking Prospective Corps Members to Pay N50,000
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a warning to prospective corps members and their parents to beware of a fake advertisement circulating on social media.
The advertisement, sponsored by khaki_corper, asks the prospective corps members to pay N50,000 for some items that they will need in the orientation camp.
The NYSC management has disowned the advertisement and described it as a scam by some unscrupulous individuals who want to exploit the unsuspecting public.
The NYSC said that all the items, such as uniforms, feeding, accommodation and other welfare packages, are provided free of charge by the Federal Government to the corps members during the orientation period.
The NYSC advised the prospective corps members and their parents not to fall for the fraudulent advertisement and not to pay any money for any service or item that will be provided in the camp.
The NYSC also urged them to report any such advertisement or solicitation to the appropriate authorities.
The NYSC said: “Corps members are therefore not required to pay for services or uniforms which will be provided in the orientation camps. Please be guided.”
