Nollywood Actor, Akpor Dies In Swimming Pool

As we all know, the Nigerian movie industry has produced many actors and actresses over the years and at the same time lost most of them to the cold hand of ‘death’.

The industry has lost icons within the short period of the year 2019 and it’s been a sad occurrence.

Fast-rising writer, actor, and director, Kagho Harley Akpor, has reportedly died after drowning in a swimming pool at a popular hotel in Asaba, Delta State.

According to the Report, although details of the incident were still sketchy as at press time, sources said the actor was at a film location shooting a movie alongside other crew members when he fell into the pool.

The source said the actor might have drowned because he had no swimming skills, adding that as at the time he was rescued from the water, a lot of damage had been done.

Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke who confirmed the incident in Asaba on Tuesday could also not give details.

He, however, said the deceased was not at a movie location when he allegedly drowned; he simply went to the swimming pool for other reasons when the sad incident occurred.

This tragic incident is coming a year after the movie industry had lost another young actor, Ugwoke Izuchukwu, who died a terrible death on 2018 Valentine’s day after he jumped into a swimming pool few days to his mother’s burial. Before his demise, he was also a production manager and camera assistant with Square Wing Movie, Asaba.

His family and friends were thrown into a state of double grief following the death of the guy. He hailed from Ibagwa-Ani, Nsukka, Enugu State and was preparing for the burial of his mother slated for February 23 2018 when the tragic incident happened. It was gathered that trouble started when Izuchukwu dived into the swimming pool on Wednesday night, and didn’t surface. He had died before he could be rescued from the pool.

Drowning typically occurs silently, with only a few people able to wave their hands or call for help.

Symptoms following rescue may include breathing problems, vomiting, confusion, or unconsciousness. It remains a significant worldwide public health concern, ranking as the third leading cause of unintentional injury death and accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths. It is a major cause of disability and death, particularly in children.
