Nigerians have reacted to a viral video of some Muslim clerics (Alfas) praying for Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky during his housewarming.
Bobrisky who is the most popular crossdresser in the country organized a prayer session in his new home and invited Islamic clerics.
Newsflash Nigeria understands that the now-viral video has sparked reactions on social media as netizens questioned the presence of the clerics at such an event.
In the video sighted by Newsflash Nigeria, Bobrisky was seen sitting on a chair while the clerics sat on the floor to recite some portion of the Islamic Holy Book, the Qur’an.
Several Muslims across the country who reacted to the video rained curses on the Islamic clerics with many accusing them of being slaves to Bobrisky’s money.
According to them, crossdressing is forbidden (Haram) in Islam. Some cited the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to have cursed men who imitate women.
“The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him cursed from the men who imitate women, and from women who imitate men. (Sahih Bukhari),” a Nigerian Muslim, Muhammad Olayiwola cited a saying of the Prophet.
As the video gained more attention on social media, Nigerians especially Muslims criticised the clerics heavily for agreeing to pray for a crossdresser who they said had been cursed.
Some others admonished them not to curse them but to pray for them.
“Awon Alfa alatenuje, shame on them. They’re the ones destroying this world,” Rukayat wrote on Facebook.
“Subhanallah ya rabbi and these people will put Quran in front of this satan ..may God forgive us,” Olatokunbo wrote.
Another Facebook user says how will they address this one, is it Alhaji wa or Alhaja wa?
“No insult. Forget about Alfas. The fact that Idris is still inclined toward Islam shows that he still has ISLAMIC faith. But by insulting him and Alfa, how do you rectify his affairs?. What they are doing here is not shirking.
“And the cross dressing is not a major sin. So y’all need to slow down. They just need to advise him. His situation is similar to an alcoholic. Read the Quran and see how Allah slowly forbade Muslims from drinking alcohol. Please Muslims, don’t use your myopic and uneducated approach to chase people away from Islam,” Olayomi wrote.
The controversial crossdresser had earlier showed off his multi-million naira house weeks after he was accused of lying about owning a home.
Newsflash Nigeria reports that there have been speculations that Bobrisky didn’t buy the house but rented it to chase clout on the internet.
However, the male Barbie proved the naysayers wrong after sharing a photo of the mansion on social media.
Taking to Instagram, Bobrisky wrote: ”I brought myself a smart home. This is what a home of 400,000million in one of the best locations in Lagos.”

Newsflash Nigeria understands that the controversial social media influencer had recently admitted to taking a loan for his housewarming party.
This is amidst the speculations that Bobrisky’s new apartment was rented and wasn’t built or bought by him as claimed.
After much anticipation of his housewarming party, Bobrisky took to his Instagram page to announce the scheduled date of the event.
Reacting to the Instagram post a social media user subtly shaded Bobrisky that he would be funding the party with a loan.
Responding, Bobrisky admitted he took a loan but at least had good credit in his account before he was given a loan.
