Nigerians react as Gov Makinde donates jeeps to Oyo PDP leaders
Nigerians on social media have reacted over donated two Land Cruiser Prado jeeps to the immediate past Chairman of Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party, Kunmi Mustapha, and the newly elected Chairman of the party in the state, Dayo Ogungbenro by the Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Newsflash Nigeria understands that the presentation of the cars was done on Monday, October 18, at the State Government House in Agodi, Ibadan.
Confirming the event, the publicity secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji, in a post on his social media said the party leaders received the reward for their loyalty.
He posted, “GSM at it again as he donates two Land Cruiser Prado Jeeps to the immediate past Chairman of Oyo State PDP, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, and the newly elected Chairman of PDP in Oyo State, Hon Dayo Ogungbenro.
“The two Jeeps were handed over to the two beneficiaries by the Chairman of Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Agboola Halleluyah, with the assistance of Otunba Seye Famojuro and Hon Babatunde Tijani Double T. The summary of today’s event is that loyalty pays. Thank you Governor Seyi Makinde. Congratulations my Leaders.”
Newsflash Nigeria understands that Makinde’s gesture to the party leaders has stirred mixed reactions on social media as netizens expressed their minds on the donation.
While some of the internet users are commending Governor Makinde for rewarding the party chieftains, some believed the donation is a misplaced priority.
In his reaction to the donation, a netizen, Kehinde Ogunrinu said: “Congratulations GSM, you are a nice man. Kudos to my Governor.
Another identified as Muritala Abiodun said, “Truly, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha surprised me with his kind of loyalty and sportsmanship attitude towards the recently concluded congress. Congratulations to both of them.”
Some other netizens, however, take a stride on Governor Makinde, faulting the gesture and questioned if he used his personal money or public fund to purchase the jeeps.
