Nigerians are suffering, hardship – Emir of Kano tells Buhari
The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has on Thursday told President Muhammadu Buhari that the masses are suffering and hardship particularly as it relates to security and food challenges.
The traditional ruler urged Buhari to devise means of alleviating the suffering of Nigerians.
The Emir spoke on Thursday at his palace when he received President Buhari who was on an official visit to Kano State.
He appreciated the President for his visit and expressed optimism that the smooth relationship will continue.
“We thank the President for this working visit and to make his bond with this royal house even stronger. It is their house already. We can’t quantify the number of his visits here at different occasions, especially during the reign of the late emir, both during celebrations and otherwise,” he said.
“We hope all his cabinet members will continue to do the right thing, especially where his ears could not reach.
“We hope to see the completion of this project (the Kano-Kaduna standard gauge rail) soon.
“We also call on the President to help make life easier for the masses, especially in the area of security and food security,” the Emir added.

The president on his part said he is glad to be in Kano and to pay homage to the Emir. He added that he is elated by the laudable projects he had seen completed by the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
“I am happy with these projects. These are projects he inherited, but because they are people-centred projects, he was able to complete them and even add his own,” the president said.
“I also feel that I cannot come to Kano without coming to pay homage to his Highness. I am happy with what I see. Thank you so much,” he added.
Earlier, the governor appreciated the President for the visit and the railway project under construction.
“The President has come to Kano to commission the groundbreaking of the rail line from Kano to Kaduna, which is part of the railway lines between Lagos-Ibadan-Kaduna and Kano.
“There is also a similar rail line between Kano, Katsina, Jibiya and Maradi in Niger Republic,” he said.
Buhari during the visit did the ground-breaking ceremony of the Kano-Kaduna standard gauge railway line at Zawaciki area of the state, and also commissioned the three-layer Dangi interchange bridge at Zaria road by Zoo road in the metropolis.
