Nigerian medical doctor dies of Coronavirus

Following Bassey Offiong, a student of Western Michigan University in the US, died of COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus on Saturday in the US, another Nigerian man, Alfa Sa’adu and a doctor who lives in the United Kingdom, has died of the Coronavirus.

Sa’adu, 68, who is also the galadima of Pategi in Kwara state, died of complications from the disease on Tuesday.

Aisha Ahman-Pategi, Kwara state commissioner for chieftaincy affairs, confirmed his demise.

Until his demise, Sa’adu worked at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.

He is the second reported Nigerian to die of the virus on foreign soil.

As of Wednesday, Nigeria has 151 confirmed Coronavirus cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Wednesday, April 1, has announced the confirmation of another 12 new cases of COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus in the country.

NCDC made the announcement Wednesday afternoon on its official twitter account.

With the new 12 cases, Nigeria now has 151 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease.

A tweet on the NCDC’s official Twitter handle, said nine of the new cases were recorded in Osun, two in Edo and one in Ekiti State.

“Twelve new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Osun, 2 in Edo and 1 in Ekiti State

“As at 12:30 pm 1st April there are 151 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths”.
