Nigeria Decides: INEC ad-hoc staff missing at Osinbajo’s polling unit

The INEC ad hoc staff attached to the polling unit of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, are yet to resume duty as at 08:07 am on Saturday.

At the polling unit, VGC PU 2 Code 33, in Lagos state only one police officer with the name tag Geoffrey A is seen at the unit.

Everything, however, looks set for the election as chairs and tables have been arranged and at least a 100 voters are already seated waiting to vote with media present at the polling unit.

Some army officers had earlier stopped the convoy of the VP from passing through the toll gate leading to VGC by men of the B1 Division stationed there.

The officers insisted that the standing order on movement is 6 am to 6 pm and therefore would not let anyone go through irrespective of who they are or what they are going to do.

After about 20 minutes of delay, the mobile policemen hurriedly moved some of the barriers out of the way to allow the convoy of both the state governor and the VP to pass through to Epe.

Mr Osinbajo is the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has earlier cast his vote in his polling unit 003 at his Sarkin Yara Ward in Daura Local Government Area, Katsina State.

Millions of Nigerians will today vote to elect a president that will lead West Africa’s most populous country for another four years.

The voters will also elect 468 members of the National Assembly: the Senate and the House of Representatives.

A total of 73 presidential candidates are participating in today’s election.

However, the contest is expected to be between incumbent Mr of the APC and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
