Nigeria decides: Army arrests two LG chairmen in Kano over unlawful possession of arms
A joint security team, comprising the military, police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) has reportedly arrested the two local government Chairmen in Kano State over unlawful possession of firearms.
The chairmen are Abdullahi Ramat of Ungogo local government area and Munir Dahiru Rimingado local government area of Kano State.
Newsflash Nigeria reports that the two LGA Chairmen were arrested with rifles while they were leading armed thugs to attack the convoy of the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso along Zaria Road, Kano.
According to the source who confirmed the development to Daily Nigerian said, “The joint security force was on the show of force when they encountered the chairmen leading the thugs.
“The security agents immediately disarmed the chairmen and arrested over 100 thugs laying ambush on the NNPP presidential candidate.
“They are currently detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the joint security force is intensifying patrol in the city to bring all the criminals to book,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the state police command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, is yet to verify the development at the time of filing this report.
