Nigeria Covid-19: List of 21 States with Confirmed Coronavirus Cases and their number

Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to lockdown the country in order to battle the spread of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus, twenty-one states so far and Abuja have been confirmed in Nigeria since the first case of Coronavirus disease was reported in Nigeria with at least one case.

Nigeria recorded its first case of Covid-19 after an Italian national tested positive to the virus on February 27.

As of Sunday night, April 19, Nigeria has recorded 627 cases, including twenty-one deaths.

The disease has caused the death of over 1,000,000 people globally.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday night, April 19, has announced the confirmation of another 86 new cases of COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus in the country.

NCDC made the announcement Sunday night on its official twitter account.

With the new 86 cases, Nigeria now has 627 confirmed cases and 21 deaths of the Coronavirus disease.

A tweet on the NCDC’s official Twitter handle, said 70 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos State, seven in the FCT, three in Katsina, three in Akwa-Ibom, one in Jigawa, one in Bauchi and one in Borno.

Following the confirmation of new cases on Sunday night, Twenty-one states and Abuja in Nigeria now have at least one case.

Lagos State, which has the highest number of confirmed cases in the country with 376 confirmed infections, followed by Abuja and Kano with 88 and 36 cases respectively.

So far, most of the infected people are those who have recently returned to the country from high-risk countries.

More cases of COVID-19 are still expected to be reported in the country.

The government has intensified contact tracing to track those who might have been in contact with the infected people, some of whom have already found and tested positive to the virus.

Four government officials have so far tested positive for the virus.

Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, was the first to test positive, but later died of the virus on Friday, April 17 at the First Cardiologists Consultant Hospital, Lagos, where he had been undergoing treatment for the virus.

The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, is the second senior government official to test positive for the virus but recovered from the virus.

The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, is the third senior government official to test positive for the virus while the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is the fourth senior government official to test positive for the virus but recovered from the virus.

Many other top officials have also commenced self-isolation.
