NDLEA Speaks On Force-Feeding Mohbad With Poisonous Substance

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has debunked the allegations that it poisoned late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba Oladimeji, better known as MohBad, during his arrest and detention.

The agency said that Mohbad was never arrested or detained by them at any point.

Newsflash Nigeria had reported that a video of Mohbad on a hospital bed went viral online, in which he claimed that he was force-fed a poisonous substance, beaten with a gun, and later released by the NDLEA.

The video sparked outrage and accusations that the agency was responsible for his death.

However, the spokesperson of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, said that the video was a fabrication and a fake news.

He said that Mohbad was not among the six persons arrested by the agency in February 2022, when it raided the Idado estate home of some artists signed under the Marlian record label.

He said that the agency recovered some quantities of Cannabis sativa and Molly from their apartment and car, and arrested the following suspects:

• Oniyide Azeez (Zinoleesky)
• Owoeye Michael (m)
• Abimbola Ogbe (m)
• Dominica Chinwe (f)
• Olaolohun Shubomi Mariam (f)
• Ibrahim Alawo (m)

He said that Mohbad’s name was not on the list of the arrested suspects, and that he was never in their custody. He shared a news link where a source in the agency confirmed this fact.

He wrote: “This is an authentic account of the arrest and detention of some Malian artistes in Feb 2022, an incident that has now been twisted by purveyors of fake news to say Mohbad was poisoned in ⁦@ndlea_nigeria custody even when he was never arrested or detained by the agency. I hope they’ll be bold enough to defend their claims when the hand of the law catches them.”
