The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced that it arrested 84 drug suspects and seized 451.976kg of illicit drugs in July 2023. The command also said that it secured six convictions of drug offenders in the same month.
The NDLEA Commander in Kaduna, Ibrahim Braji, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday. He said that the command carried out several operations across the state to curb the menace of drug trafficking and abuse.
He listed the types of drugs seized by the command as Indian Hemp, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Tramadol and other Psychotropic substances. He also said that the command recovered 90 rounds of live ammunition, Live bullets of 7.62mm calibres and a new Jojef pump action gun with registration number 23-0174.
He added that the command dismantled 18 illicit drug joints in various locations in the state, such as Kantin Agah, Hayin Dan-mani, Mando, Anguwan Dosa, Mararabar Rido, Tukur-Tukur and Sabon Gari. He also mentioned Palladan, Unguwar Doki, Mekera, Rigasa, Dan Daura, Karji, Ghana road, Television, Unguwar Ma’azu, Kudenden and Jushi as other places where the command raided and destroyed drug dens.
He appealed to parents to monitor their children and know the kind of friends they associated with at all times.
He also warned drug dealers to desist from their illegal activities or face the consequences. He said that the command would not relent in its efforts to rid the state of illicit drugs and make it a safe and healthy place for all.
