Melaye faces tougher hurdle as Yusuf picks PDP Senate intent form for Kogi West
The member of the House of Representatives, representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intent form ahead of the 2019 Kogi West senatorial election.
It would be recalled that the embattled Senator Dino Melaye (APC) currently represents the people of the area at the National Assembly, but has recently indicated his interest in returning to the Senate under the opposition PDP, a move some members of the party are already kicking against.
One of the leaders of a delegation from across the seven LGAs that makeup Kogi West, Otunba Bayo Yusuf, frowned at the attempt to offer an automatic ticket to aspirants who are defecting to the party.
While calling for a free, fair and transparent primary, he maintained that ‘Teejay’ Yusuf is an aspirant to beat.
‘With God on our side, Teejay Yusuf will emerge the flag bearer of our party”, he said.
Yusuf over the weekend promised to further improve on his legislative responsibilities “with a view to “bringing the dividends of democracy” to his constituency.
