Meet the 28 new and returning governors sworn in across Nigeria
As Nigeria witnessed the historic inauguration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday, 28 governors also took their oath of office in their respective states.
Among them, ten governors secured a second term in the 2023 general elections, while 18 governors emerged as new faces in the state houses.
The new governors are:

- Kefas Agbu (Taraba, PDP)
- Bassey Otu (Cross River, PDP)
- Peter Mbah (Enugu, PDP)
- Mohammed Bago (Niger, APC)
- Uba Sani (Kaduna, APC)
- Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto, APC)
- Umar Namadi (Jigawa, APC)
- Dikko Radda (Katsina, APC)
- Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom, PDP)
- Hyacinth Alia (Benue, APC)
- Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi, NNPP)
- Siminialayi Fubara (Rivers, PDP)
- Alex Otti (Abia, LP)
- Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau, APC)
- Abba Kabir (Kano, NNPP)
- Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta, PDP)
- Dauda Lawal (Zamfara, PDP)
The returning governors are:
- Seyi Makinde (Oyo, PDP)
- Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe, APC)
- Bala Mohammed (Bauchi, PDP)
- Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos, APC)
- Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa, PDP)
- Mai Mala Buni (Yobe, APC)
- Babagana Zulum (Borno, APC)
- Dapo Abiodun (Ogun, APC)
- Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa, APC)
- Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara, APC)
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has 16 governors in its fold. The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ten governors. The Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have one governor each.
